Brick by brick by brick I built them once
Rough though they were, scraping the skin raw
Where some brushed against them,
They were built high and strong
And they served me well.
Let me be the cryptic, the literature buff...
Far more together in appearance then than now.
Brick by brick I took them down only to be reminded
(Perhaps too late)why they were there.
Now the hands that once put the walls up so easily
Are the ones left raw and bleeding.
